Orlando Magic Awards Local Youth Scholarships to Basketball Camps

Orlando, Fla. – In its continuing commitment to the community efforts, Orlando Magic players have teamed up to purchase and donate scholarships to 70 Central Florida youth, the most in franchise history, allowing them to participate in the Orlando Magic youth basketball camps that are being held throughout June and July in Orlando and Tampa, Fla.
The scholarships are being distributed to children from the Parramore Branch of the Boys and Girls Club of Central Florida, the John H. Bridges Head Start Center in Apopka, Fla., the Osceola Branch of the Boys and Girls Club of Central Florida and the Devereaux Foundation of Florida, among others. The Magic have provided scholarships in the past to the Bridges Center in Apopka, English Estates Elementary School and the Tampa Housing Authority.
The Orlando Magic youth basketball camps activities range from skills enhancement to live games, and all summer camp participants will receive one ticket voucher for the first regular season home game of the 2006-07 season. Camps begin June 5 at the RDV Sportsplex and the Champions Sports Complex, and the last camp runs July 24-28 at the Magic practice court and the Downtown Recreation Center.
