ORLANDO MAGIC HOST FIRST-EVER BASKETBALL CAMP

ORLANDO, Fla. – In celebration of 20 FANtastic Seasons, the Orlando Magic will host their first-ever parent-child gameday clinic on Saturday, November 22 from 1 – 3 p.m. at the RDV Sportsplex. The two-hour clinic will take place on the Orlando Magic practice court and is designed to engage parents and their children in a fun and exciting basketball environment. Orlando Magic Community Ambassador Nick Anderson will be participating in the basketball clinic portion, taking part in basketball drills, contests, games and more with the camp participants. Campers will then join the Magic for an exciting night at the Amway Arena as the Magic take on the Houston Rockets.

“Our aim in providing this new program is to help strengthen the bond between parent and child through sport,” Orlando Magic Basketball Camp Supervisor Antonio Perez said. “We believe that playing alongside each other and experiencing the excitement of live NBA action as part of the parent-child clinic is definitely in-line with the Magic’s mission of ‘delivering legendary moments’ both on and off the court.”

Highlights of the parent-child gameday clinic will include:

· Quality basketball instruction that will be fun for parents and kids alike.

· Each youth participant receives a full-size Magic basketball to take home.

· After the game, participants also get to take a group photo at center court with the Magic Dancers.

Orlando Magic community relations programs impact an estimated 75,000 kids each year, while a Magic staff-wide initiative provides more than 5,000 volunteer hours annually. In addition, over the last 19 years nearly $14 million has been distributed to local non-profit community organizations via The Orlando Magic Youth Fund (OMYF), a fund of the McCormick Foundation since 1994, which serves at risk and disadvantaged youth. Ticket highlights for 2008-09 include: 7,569 seats priced $25 or under per game; a $27 lower bowl ticket; and tickets priced at $10 per game.
