HEAT to Unveil 2012 Miami Floridians Presented By T-Mobile on January 21

Team to Unveil “White Hot” Floridians Uniforms, Special 1970’s Themed Player Introduction Video * T-Mobile to Distribute 20,000 Floridians Player Placards

MIAMI, January 19th - The Miami HEAT will pay tribute to the American Basketball Association (ABA) as part of the "NBA Hardwood Classics Nights" by hosting a series of 1970's retro-themed games.The 2012 Miami Floridians, presented by T-Mobile, will take the hardwood at AmericanAirlines Arena beginning with the back-to-back match up against the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday, January 21 and the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday, January 22. During the Floridians games, the HEAT will wear the 1971-72 Miami Floridians “white hot” version of the uniform which features black numbers with a magenta trim above “Miami” on the front of the jersey. The jersey is also highlighted by the “only in Miami” colors of magenta and orange vertical stripes on the left side. On the back of jersey, the player’s last name will be featured in the ABA retro-style of below the number.

Additional Floridians games this season include: February 5 vs. Toronto (Burnie’s Birthday), February 7 vs. Cleveland, March 6 vs. New Jersey and March 7 vs. Atlanta.

The HEAT is encouraging all fans attending Floridians games to come dressed in their funkiest 1970’s fashions as the vibe, the music and all in-game activities will center on the days of disco and platforms. The January 21 game is also Saturday Night Jersey Night, presented by adidas, so HEAT fans are encouraged to stop by the Miami Hoops Gear store on the Mezzanine Level of AmericanAirlines Arena to purchase their limited edition Floridians jersey. 2012 Miami Floridians Player Introduction Sequence
The team will debut a special player introduction video amid the backdrop of the 1975 smash hit “Get Down Tonight” sung by musical icon and South Florida native Harry Wayne Casey, better known as lead singer KC from the popular 1970’s group, KC and The Sunshine Band. The lighthearted video, which will air before each of the Floridians games, features HEAT players donning afros and other props as they attempt to recreate the revelry of the era. In addition, HEAT.com and TIPOFF magazine will showcase the Floridians color scheme and content, highlighting each player’s 1970’s alter ego, his personal tastes and characteristics.
